James Bennewith combines technical expertise with a relaxed and approachable teaching style, creating lessons that are both educational and enjoyable. With a passion for making music accessible and rewarding, James strives to help each student discover their unique musical voice and develop their confidence as a musician.
Based in Kingswood, Bristol, James offers lessons tailored to a wide range of instruments, including guitar, bass, piano/keyboard, and vocals, as well as music production and composition using Logic Pro.
He also teaches music theory making him an excellent choice for students preparing to progress towards higher Grades, brushing up on theory skills, or striving to achieve higher marks in GCSE or study A level music.
James holds a level 3 award in education and training and is DBS-checked for added peace of mind. He brings years of experience performing in different disciplines and genres and currently across the UK as a member of the band MANIA, enriching his teaching with real-world musical insights.

However, if you’re unsure about which guitar to purchase, we can provide guidance on selecting the right one for you. For your first few lessons, we may have a guitar available for you to use. Lesson Details Q4: What is the duration and frequency of the lessons? Lessons are typically 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 1 hour long, depending on your preference and schedule. We recommend weekly lessons for consistent progress, but we can also accommodate bi-weekly or custom schedules. Q5: How much do lessons cost? £20 for 30 Minutes £28 for 45 Minutes £35 for 60 Minutes £70 for a 2-Hour Production Lesson (more time available on request) Q6: Do you offer online lessons? Yes, we offer online lessons via Zoom, Skype, or other video platforms. Online lessons are a convenient option for students who prefer learning from the comfort of their own home. Q10: Do I need any prior musical experience? No prior experience is needed to start guitar lessons. We will tailor the lessons to match your current skill level, whether you’re a complete beginner or have some experience. Q11: How much should I practice between lessons? Practice is key to progress! We recommend practicing at least 5-60 minutes a day, depending on your schedule and goals. We will provide you with exercises and songs to practice at home. Policies & Scheduling Q12: What is your cancellation policy? We require at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a lesson. Lessons canceled with less than 48 hours' notice will be charged at the full lesson rate. Q13: How do I pay for lessons? We accept bank transfers, preferably in bulk payments of 4 lessons at a time. Q14: Can I book lessons on a flexible schedule? Yes, we offer flexible scheduling options to accommodate busy lifestyles. Let us know your availability, and we will do our best to find a lesson time that works for you. Q15: Are your teachers DBS checked? Yes, all our teachers are DBS checked, ensuring a safe learning environment for students of all ages. Special Programs Q16: Do you offer group lessons? We specialize in exam boards such as Rockschool (RSL) and Trinity. Miscellaneous Q18: What if I’m left-handed? No problem! We can teach both right-handed and left-handed guitar players.
